Gosh! Just when we thought 2023 might usher in better times we lost the amazing talent of Ken Block. The collective shock and outpouring of respect from those that knew or had met him could be felt, such was the depth of feeling being expressed. As we move away from he internal combustion engine, will we ever see quite Ken's like again? It seems unlikely.
I woke to this unbelieveable news having attended January's 'I love you, man' talk at Caffeine & Machine. James Cameron of Mission Motorsport was in the chair and proved both entertaining and thought provoking in equal measure. It brought about a plan to introduce Club Audi to Mission Motorsport at the Bicester Heritage Sunday Scramble that Sunday. This duly happened and a rapport has been established. We are happy to be supporting at our first event with Mission Motorsport, Veterans @ Bicester on Wednesday 8th February.
The wheels well and truly came off the Team Audi Sport challenge for the honours in Dakar. Even with an experienced and talented set up, it just wasn't to be this year. It appears that the dice have to roll in your favour from the outset and stay that way. Dakar is proving a tough nut to crack. The viper pit that is F1 is the new challenge on the horizon, with perhaps the politics proving a greater challenge than the technical aspect.
2023 is certainly offering up plenty of opportunity to attend events and share our passion with other enthusiasts. Let's hope that inflation eases and allows these events to flourish. April is a busy month for Club Audi. Technically it starts late March, attending the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration show. We will have a presence at Simply Audi at Beaulieu, The Classic Motor Hub Sundown Classics and Coffee then our own AGM and Concours at The British Motor Museum, Gaydon. Please check out our Events page for full details.
