Earlier this year, Karl and I went along to Birmingham Audi to look at new A4s – as he said we were “only looking”… but somehow a few hours later we, well, Karl, was signing on the dotted line for, yes, you guessed it, another A4 Sport! Whilst chatting to the salesperson I jokingly said it would be nice to bring some older Audis to the showroom and somehow it all snowballed from there… a few days later I spoke with Gina Biswas and we arranged a meeting, at which we were amazed to hear them offering to clear the whole of the second floor for the Club display!

Cue publicity in the Newsletter and e-mails from Malcolm: the phone calls came pouring in from existing and new members alike, all asking if they could come along.
So the day arrived, and Karl and I headed off in both our Audis. On arriving we had to drive up this ramp to the second floor. As I drove up I
found the door ahead closing on me, and believe me, you don’t want to know the thoughts that were going through my head at that precise moment. As I got much closer, it began to open – well how on earth was I to know that it was automatic?!
After getting the cars up I went to stand by the entrance to await new arrivals and visitors (Lyndon tells me that he has a photo of me which he took from the second floor – I hope this never goes to print) and the Open Day began at about 12 noon. We had several visitors and it was nice to see and talk to people about our cars. One of the sales team, Pindi Padam, kindly showed us around the showroom and service and MOT area, which was most interesting. We were refreshed throughout the day with tea and coffee, and I seem to remember our Newsletter Editor in the kitchen area making coffee!
I’d like to thank all the team at Birmingham Audi, especially Gina and Pindi, for allowing Club Audi to stage this day, and all the members who put their cars on display: Karl Mullings (Series 3 Coupé 2.0 16V); Mandy Smith (80 Cabriolet 2.0 8V); Gillian Figures (80 Cabriolet 2.0 8V); Dave Selway Series (3 80 Sport 2.0 8V); Lyndon Dickens & Ashley Bott (S4 2.7 bi-turbo); Steve Fone (Series 4 80 Avant 2.6); Paul Wadge (Series 2 A6 2.5TDI Avant Sport quattro); Jeff & Cherie Barker-Jones (Series 2 TT S) and Richard Ward (Series 3 Coupé 2.6), as well as Simon Bushell and Steven Warwick Haynes, who came to visit, but did not put their cars on show.
