Woodvale was once again an excellent show with so much to see and do that it was hard to squeeze it into one day. The only downside was that once again people promised to attend (even paid their £5) and then did not turn up on the day. It would be fine if they at least let me know beforehand! If this keeps happening, I just might have to start “naming and shaming”…
Despite these three non-attendees, there were seven cars on the stand – if I include Audi UK’s S1 rally car! This, in conjunction with Terry and Kay Hill’s bright red R8, certainly brought the crowd to the stand and I managed to enlist one new member for the North-West Region. Even better than expected was the weather, which just got hotter and hotter as the day wore on, due to the wind dropping from its gale force quality at 8.30am (when we were putting up the gazebo)! This is such a great show for every interest and I’m surprised not only that more people don’t attend, but especially at those who don’t turn up after paying their deposit! I really hope we might see more of us there next year. Many thanks to Rob Lea in his rare 100 Avant quattro turbo, Jimmy Halliday in his Series 3 Coupé 16V, Alan and Marianne Grindley (and dogs which my daughter loved) in a Series 3 90 quattro, Andy Biddulph in his Ur quattro, and Terry and Kay Hill in the R8.
