Tortworth Vintage Transport Show

Our attendance at this two-day show was in response to the wish of one of our Club Members and former South-West Regional Rep, Alan Knight, to use an Audi show to raise money for St. Peter’s Hospice – a charity which has provided huge support to Alan, and his partner Olive, during Alan’s battle with cancer. Our Chairman, Graham Hughes, is friendly with the show’s organiser, Keith Shakespeare, and Keith kindly agreed to the Club having a large, separate parking area within the main grounds of the show and to our collecting the entrance money from all Audi-driving visitors to the show and for these monies to be donated to the hospice.

Woodvale Air and Auto Show

This was a special year for the Woodvale Rally and a fly-past had been organised to celebrate – more of that later.
We arrived early and got the gazebo set up quickly as the forecast was for torrential rain that morning (pretty normal for this year’s shows). With ALL the sides attached and the stove on for tea and coffee it was certainly a cosy place to be when the rain did arrive .We also set up the cars herring-bone style to make the most of the available space.
Cumbria Steam Gathering

The Flookburgh Steam Gathering took place over the weekend of July 30th and 31st, and I have to say that this has once again been the best show of the year. You really need both days to see and do everything properly, including sampling the home-grown food and drink as well as taking in all the transport on offer, from vintage steam traction engines of all sizes, steam cars and buses, up to modern classic cars and vans. If this is not enough there are steam-powered fairground rides too!

The Pageant of Power took place over the weekend of July 16th and 17th, and this amazing event was only spoilt by the terrible weather on the Sunday.

Stanford Hall

Although we were greeted with brilliant sunshine, there was a strong wind blowing, but we did not let this stop us putting up the gazebo and for a couple of hours we managed to keep two sides on as well! Our display consisted Ian Read (A3 1.8T), Stuart MacFarlane (A3 1.4) and my B2 80 Sport.
Race Retro, Stoneleigh Park

The National Agricultural Centre at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, was once again the venue for Race Retro, which is the ideal event at which to see both great historic and modern race and rally cars, as well as a wide variety of accessories and spare parts. This year the featured marques were Lancia and Jaguar E-Type, with both race and rally versions on show.

Curborough – Club Audi’s Track Day

For the second year in a row our track day at Curborough was blessed with a very warm, dry, sunny day – which really makes standing around on a former airfield much more pleasant – and the catering kiosk was open to sell us bacon butties, burgers and cups of coffee. I think this is the first year at Curborough when I’ve been comfortable just wearing a polo shirt!

Classic Motor Show - NEC

November took us once again to the NEC and the Classic Motor Show. Four halls of classic cars, a separate hall for two-wheeled machines plus one for the MPH show and live theatre with the Top Gear crew, meant there was plenty to see and do.
